RYO ZAN TEI Serviette

The translation of this Japanese restaurant‘s name is "Cool Mountain Hut". This restaurant is located at Bukit Tinggi. It is situated at a hill so when you dine there, you have the whole mountain view under your legs. It take some guts to really seat at their outside table as what's underneath you is the mountain valley, some distances below. I think it is safe to say that if you fall, that might be your last meal. But of cause, you won't fall. I do not know whether they are still in business or not as last time when I dined there, there are no other customers. Hopefully they are still available.

MR. TEPPANYAKI Serviette

I think Mr. Teppanyaki is trying very hard to mimic Teppanyaki, but there is always a gap in standard. I don't know why but I just feel the gap. Mr. Teppanyaki is a tier under Teppanyaki if you ask me.

TEPPANYAKI Serviette

Teppanyaki is actually one of my favorite Japanese restaurant. Their chicken teppanyaki is nice and that's usually the main course that I ordered. You won't forget the enormous amount of vegetables and bean sprouts they put on their teppanyaki. You will also probably enjoy the chef cooking in front of you.

O'BRIENS Serviette

O'Briens sandwiches, I never ate before. But I'd eat one of their chocolate muffin before. Tasty I must say. Looking forward to try one of their so good-looking sandwiches one day and give a comparison between Subway and O'Briens.

1901 Serviette

Hotdog any one? 1901 is the only stall I know so far dedicated in selling Hotdog, at least in Malaysia it is. Their hotdog is a bit pricey, but if you love hotdog, you will like 1901.

SUBAIDAH Serviette

This serviette brings back old memories. This is the place where I hang out with my gang Chee How, Henry, Kim Chiew and others for supper. This is also the place where we witnessed David Beckham missed the penalty kick in Euro 2004 quarter final against Portugal. This is the serviette of Subaidah restaurant at MITC Ayer Keroh, Melaka.

O'VIET VIETNAMESE CUISINE Serviette

One of the worst Vietnamese restaurant I have been to. I don't actually eat anything there, I just had a drink, but the drink is awful! The santan they added into the beverage tasted a bit weird and sour, like it has expired for a very long time. Even the exchanged beverage after the complaint tasted a like. It might be their supplier problem but that will be my one and only one time stepping my foot into that restaurant.

VIETNAM KITCHEN Serviette

One of the better Vietnam food that I have ate before. This is the serviette from Restaurant Vietnam Kitchen, located in Leisure Mall at Cheras. The restaurant is in the middle of the Leisure Mall new extension 1st floor.

LITTLE PENANG KAFE Serviette

This is the Little Penang Kafe serviette. Nothing much to say about this restaurant though. Food is not great, but OK. I think I took this serviette from their restaurant in Mid Valley Mega Mall.

PICCOLO MONDO Serviette

I never dine in Piccolo Mondo and I have absolutely no idea how I got this serviette. Anyhow, here goes, serviette of Piccolo Mondo. Anyone who has dined there mind to share what food are they serving there?

CHOPSTIK NOODLE HOUSE Serviettes

Noodle anyone? These two Chopstik Noodle House serviettes are all taken from the Mid Valley branch. I don't really remember which one is the current one since I haven't dine there for quite some time. If I am not mistaken, the right one with the rounded design is the older serviette design. Find it out next time when you are in Chopstik Noodle House!

GENTING Serviette

This is the only Genting serviette I have. I have been to Genting numerous times for various reasons. However, the most out of ordinary reason is to accompany my buddy Henry to send a gift to his favorite girl who that time was at Genting. We rushed there in the afternoon, wondering around until he done his job, then rushed down again at 2 a.m. in the morning. That was some crazy moments we had during university time.

OK, enough of that, serious talk now. As we all know,
Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong, founder and honorary life president of Genting Group, has passed away at 11.20 a.m. Tuesday 23/10/2007 at Subang Jaya Medical Centre. This post will be a tribute to the respectable Uncle Lim.

KYROS KEBAB Serviette

Is it delicious? Frankly I already forgot about the taste of the Kyros kebab, which might also means their taste did not impress me back then. I guess I tried Kyros Kebab just for its serviette. Going to a restaurant just for its serviette? Yes, I do that, sometimes.

GRAZIE Serviette

Grazie, I think it is a restaurant. Let me recall how did I get this serviette. I personally never heard of the restaurant nor did I ever dine there. If I am not mistaken it is Mr. Tan Chin Aik who kept this one for me from his dinner with her sister in some French restaurant in Cyberjaya. So, this one is for you Aik! Thanks!

YOSHINOYA Serviettes

Yoshinoya is like a Japanese fast food to me. Had them twice and that's how these two serviettes came about. The left one with bigger Yoshinoya logo is from Yoshinoya Mid Valley and the right one is from Yoshinoya KLCC.

MADAM KWAN's Serviette

Another one of my favorite restaurant, Madam Kwan. They serve one of the best nasi lemak and nasi bojari. The price is a bit high for local food but they are delicious no doubt. Just been there last weekend and the serviette design hasn't change.

CHILI'S Serviette

Chili's is one of my favorite restaurant, been there numerous time with bosses, colleagues, family and friends. The serviette design remains the same all these while. Hopefully they will come up with some new design soon.

TGI FRIDAY'S Serviette

This is the TGI Fridays's serviette which I took probably a year or two back. I am not sure whether they have changed their serviette design since then as that is the one and only one time I ate in TGI Friday's until now.

KIM GARY Serviettes

Sometimes there are design changes which are not easily spotted, like the Kim Gary Hong Kong Restaurant serviette. If you look carefully enough, you will find the old design (left) to have a smaller logo than the current one (right).

SUSHI KING Serviettes

Sushi anyone? Above are Sushi King's serviettes. I don't quite remember which is older and which is newer as it's been a while since I last dined in Sushi King. If I remember correctly, the one with the square Sushi King design is the newer one. Again, you are seeing some serviette design which is no longer available currently.

SUBWAY Serviette

This SUBWAY serviette was taken when I was in Sherman, TX, United States. I still remember I bought two chicken sandwiches on separate days from this particular SUBWAY inside the Mobil Gas Station next to my hotel.

As you can see clearly on the serviette, SUBWAY was trying hard to campaign their less fat sandwich. I think it is a good idea to print the food nutrients information on the serviette like SUBWAY did. At least the information is provided and whether or not the consumer will take note is their own business.
I do not know whether Malaysia SUBWAY has this kind of serviette or not as I never had SUBWAY in Malaysia before. Maybe it's time to pay them a visit.

THAI AIRWAYS Serviettes

Airline's serviette post # 3, this is the Thai Airways Serviette. Thai Airways has the most variations of serviette I have ever seen on an airline. Different sizes and different designs even on the same flight. These serviettes are taken during my flights from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok and from Bangkok to Munich. Maybe one of them is taken during my trip back Kuala Lumpur, I don't quite remember. I have no idea why they still providing the season greetings serviette as it was June when I traveled. Anyhow, lucky me to have another variation to add to my collections.

Well, that's all the airlines serviettes I have for now. Hopefully I will have the chance to take other airlines next time and collect their serviettes. FYI, Cathay Pacific Airways, AirAsia and Singapore Airlines only supply plane white serviette thus I do not collect them.

MALAYSIA AIRLINES Serviette

Since the last post was about airline's serviette, I guess I just continue with similar post. This time it is our very own Malaysia Airlines. It's been a while since I last took Malaysia Airlines ever since AirAsia came along. This Malaysia Airlines serviette was taken during my flight from Kuala Lumpur to Melbourne sometime April 2005 when I traveled there with my family.

AMERICAN AIRLINES Serviette

This is the serviette of the American Airlines. Obviously they are having some promotion with Citi Group and it's their 25th anniversary. The serviette was taken while I was on the flight from San Francisco to Dallas.

JUSCO Serviettes

The JUSCO serviette is available if you dine out at its food court. I wasn't a big fan of JUSCO food court but I have two of their serviettes here. The top one is a normal JUSCO serviette while the bottom one is a more special 20th anniversary edition. I believe nowadays the JUSCO food court serviette has been replaced with plane white serviette without any design printed. Cost saving measurements maybe. Even if they still have the normal JUSCO serviette available, I bet you can't find the 20th anniversary edition anymore.

KFC Serviettes

Well, let me start off with one of the World's most popular fast food restaurant - KFC. Did you all ever notice about the design changes in KFC serviettes when you were there? Or you were too busy using them to clean your hands that you never really notice about them? Don't worry, I was once like that, until one day I realized, hey, they have changed the serviette design! What I am showing here is probably history I would say, because you will never see these designs again in KFC.

The first serviette on the left is probably one of the earliest KFC serviette design. You might still be able to find them inside the spoon & ketchup package which come along with the KFC take away. I realized back then that the serviette which came in the package had a different design from what the serviette restaurant is providing. I am not sure whether this KFC serviette design still exist today.

I do not think you can find any KFC serviette with the same design as the second serviette on the left anymore. This was collected few years back and the serviette design has changed since then. Might be the only piece left on earth currently.

What's your KFC moment? This is also an old KFC serviette design, probably a year or two back. I don't quite remember when I collected this but it was about that time. You won't be able to see this serviette in any KFC restaurant anymore currently.

Now, I think this will look a bit familiar eh? Yes, this is the serviette design KFC currently has on all their restaurants. I haven't been to all KFC restaurants but I am pretty sure they are all the same as those that I've been to seem to have the same serviette design. And yeah, it's finger lickin' good!

That's all I have on KFC. I am sure some more will be added later in the future as they changed their serviette design. Till then, remember to take a look at the serviette next time when you are in the KFC.

How did I start?

How did I start on collecting serviettes? Well, I do not really have an answer for that. I guess I just like to collect stuff, and serviettes are those stuff which you can collect without spending extra money. And it turn out to be kind of cool hobby, at least for me it is. I have to admit that some serviettes do have excellent designs which somehow attract me.

I was not really into serviettes collecting in the first place but more towards collecting them when I saw some really nice ones. As time passed by, my interest grows and the more I collected. Soon I realized that some serviettes are more meaningful as they gone through some changes where the old designs were taken over by new designs. Thus the old designed serviette is discontinued and I might have the only piece existing! Although it is nothing to be proud of, but it feels good whenever I look at them knowing it might be the only piece in this world now.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my friends especially my beloved Pei Leng who help me to collect the serviettes. Without their help my serviettes collection surely will not be in the size it is now. I also would like to thank Fang Leng who taught me the word "serviette" as before that I only address serviette as tissue paper.

This blog is created so that I can share my interest in serviettes with all of you and hope you all like it.
